Hello, I've been browsing the top posts of /r/linux, and I noticed the one about Lenovo's shenanigans with the drivers. I was then perplexed at the mod's decision to lock the all-time popular thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/54gtpc/letter_to_the_federal_trade_commission_regarding/d82txvd/ I want you to know that my impression is that the mod is corrupt. Why? Because they endorse the abusive behavior of the company. It is the same kind of "no drivers" abuse as Google does with Android. Oh, we're totally open source. But I guess the drivers are just not meant to be! Too bad. The driver issues are a red herring meant to distract from corporate collusion and oligopoly. That is what /r/linux is supporting - and that is what the Linux Foundation has become. Perhaps it's time to switch - BSD perhaps? No drivers means it's not a free system. Still, they can update your phone so that it no longer works. As a consequence, I no longer buy Android. I use a featurephone. I suggest a better subreddit is /r/StallmanWasRight/ . In any case, thank you for your post and for writing the FTC a letter. As a Romanian citizen, I have limited ways of influencing US politics and companies. Stay vigilant! Freedom is not given, it is taken. P.S. What ever came of the FTC? Did they respond anyhow? If not, they're playing the same game.
