This is the dogma (Linux = maximum security) in most of the privacy-focused areas of reddit. linux is used by geeks and most people who KNOW about security. that often leads people (as it did me) into the misconception that linux is therefore some kind of security solution. which I now realise is totally wrong. in the right hands i am sure it can be used very securely, but those are not my hands so mac osx is fine for me!
