What really makes me wonder is how you end up with a legal system where something like ExFAT even got patents in the first place. The new driver got rid of about as many net lines of code vs the 5.6 driver that was based on Samsung's "Just shove it in Android and call it a day." horseshit. Defining functions and then not using them and hex because oh sure, get in there. Parts of it looked deliberately obfuscated like nv did. What was reassuring was that except in the case of trivial things where it doesn't matter if it's done properly or not, such as committing blocks, the documentation from Microsoft to the vendors was mostly not completely terrible.
