I've been scratching my mind on this.
For monero to protect the senders identity, it uses ring signatures which mixes your wallets signature with past senders on the blockchain.

But if its your first time spending monero, either to yourself or someone else, you introduce yourself for the first time on the blockchain which makes it clear you're the spender on that transaction.

Obviously i have minimum understanding about the monero algorithm so I'm likely wrong.
