there used to be differences -> previous version behaved differently on limit/offset due to MSSQL being opinionated :)

I think they're pretty much just doing what the Oracle adapter did, except there the maintainers welcomed JRuby support ...

this is code out of our control and it seems to me very hard to pull strings on getting stuff into libraries.
at least that has been my experience e.g. with json, partly puma, getting feedback on rubygems.org ...
